End of Summer

3 more weeks to go and I am out of my summer job and then it back to working 19 hours a week and having to juggle school and work.

This summer holiday has been rather eventful. I spend most of my days working, blogging, chatting online and basically living up to a non-existent social life.

I realize I got a lot more depressed while I am here in Hawaii. I cannot seem to attribute it to anything at all.

I like Hawaii, it is so beautiful. Paradise indeed, but I am still a city lass at heart. As the saying goes, you can take the girl out of a city, but you can never take the city out of the girl.

I haven’t told you about the beauties of Hawaii have I? Did I also tell you of the scenic views Hawaii offers to her dwellers? Hawaii has mountains, and unlike the Rocky Mountains in Utah, Hawaii has got mountains that are lush and green. I remember driving by the coast line, seeing water flowing down the mountain range. The view in simply breathe taking to say the least.

I love to drive by the coast line of Hawaii. It is therapeutic. Just the sight of the ocean is reason enough for one to fall in love with Hawaii.

This past week, has been pretty long and exhausting.

I went to Pearl Harbor last Thursday and watched a documentary on Pearl Harbor. As a history major back in high school, I have had the opportunity to learn about the Second World War. I have had many occasions where I read and heard of the Pearl Harbor bombing. I have never been able to comprehend on the full measure of the bombing until I pay a visit to Pearl Harbor’s USS Arizona Memorial. There lie a few thousand men who are entombed in the ship which they served abroad.

After watching the documentary, and visiting the site, I stood there for a second and felt a wave of anguish and disgust swept over me.

We humans spend over two thousand years to trying to populate the earth and now, we are trying to kill each other over minor reasons which doesn’t even justify for a war.

A war is bad period.
